Rashamon are a 3 piece mixing elements of glitch, hip hop and even a touch of acid house melancholica. Formed by Lee Hume in 2001 originally as a bedroom based one piece and originally named Stendec (now changed due to Static Caravan band of same name and similar sound), Lee has spent over 10 years forging a happy medium with creative music and might actually now be getting there. Originally vocalist with the inseminal (if such a word exists) indie band Duplo (see Coastline Records, if you can still find any trace – also sadly now defunct) and the proto-turgid pop mission Scout (tapes still available if you want a laugh) Lee has stopped trying to sing and just focused on the writing of melodic electronics. Now joined by Seb Wyatt and his beautiful FX laden guitar musings and by Analogue boy Michael Huggett on MS10 and occasional bass, Rashamon are gradually fusing together 3 different creative elements to try and obtain harmonic resonances that make them (and maybe you) pretty pleased with themselves. Influences range from Tortoise to Grand Master Flash, New Order to Miles Davis. Sometimes a happy collision, they are jamming and spreading some kind of noise over toast. The EP ‘Tomorrow, People’ should be due out on HighPoint LowLife sometime in 2004, a fairly solo affair from Lee but grabbing huge chunks of Sebs guitar wanderings into the mix. Mmmm, kinda sweet kinda chewy.
