Dr
Eugene Chadbourne
Doc Chad has a tremendous history: playing with
John Zorn in the 70's forming the legendary Shockabilly with Kramer, recording
LP's with Camper Van Beethoven and countless others. He's
also recorded the most twisted covers of country and western music you could
ever wish to hear, and practically invented the Noise genre back in the 80;'s
with "The Plunger" and "the Rake". Its his first visit to
the UK in about 15 years and we're as pleased as pigshit to have him aboard.
The last time I saw Eugene Chadbourne was way back in 1989, 31st of March
to be precise at the Canterbury Arms in Brixton, just behind the police
station. Excellent gig that was, we are so excited to have Eugene play at the
Spirit of Gravity. I have told and invited all my friends, even if they are
not interested.
I
have been singing "Top of the tallest treeee..." for months now.

Slashs Wormhole
Henry Collins' psychedelic adventure into sonic abstraction: Home made
instrument's, circuit bent toys & improvised noise. Henry
is tidy, Henry likes to use the vacuum cleaner late
at night. Slash's Wormhole is Henry's project which features a homemade bass
guitar crafted from the body of a hoover boss loop
pedal, circuit-bent keyboards and toys.
From the Spirit of Gravity Jan 2009 - "God
bless Henry Collins, he of Slash's Wormhole. Lover of Polish cinema,
farmers favourite and man of the world. He arrived on stage with his bass
hoover and mangling boxes and proceeded to give James Murray Spangler &
Leo Fender's combined greatest moments a pasting. Like his namesake there was
plenty of rock posturing and a certain amount of rolling around on the floor,
but the music's the thing pop pickers and whilst not being my Mums idea of
music (she likes brass bands), I fucking loved it. How Henry manages to pull
what he does from the chaos surrounding him is anyones guess, but he manages
pretty well".
